Aquarius goes International

Aquarius Family Alcohol Service Co-ordinator, Richard McVey, visited Prague for a 5-day conference about working with disadvantaged young people in the EU.

There were lots of organisations present, representing many different countries including Czech Republic, Sweden, Estonia, Slovakia, Portugal and the UK. Each organisation presented how they work with young people. Then there were a series of workshops with the aim of sharing best practice.

The conference valued participation from service users and was attended by disadvantaged young people from the different countries. The aim for them was to build their confidence and increase their team-working skills.

Richard said that "It was a very uplifting experience to see people so open to other cultures all working towards the same goal. It is good to know that Aquarius' work with children and families is at the forefront of this type of work in Europe."
